The main application round starts August 1st and ends August 15th at 24:00 Finnish time. Grant applications can only be prepared and submitted to the online grant service during the application period.
Grants for academic scientific work in 24 different fields of science
Finnish citizens and citizens of other countries who live in Finland can apply for grants for the purpose of work performed predominantly in Finland. Only private individuals can apply for grants. The Foundation awards individual working grants for doctoral dissertation finalization, early phase postdoc researchers, and for research visits related to the above.
- An individual 12-month working grant of €26,000 for finalizing a Ph.D.
- An individual 12-month working grant of €30,000 for postdoc researchers just starting out.Please see detailed instructions and grant application evaluation criteria here.
Grants for professional artistic work
Only private individuals and collectives can apply for a grant. A group of individuals (eg performing arts, lifelong learning) can only apply for a grant if the applicant is a community. A collective applicant can be e.g. an registered association, cooperation or finnish corporation. Finnish citizens and citizens of other countries who live in Finland can apply for individual working grants for work performed predominantly in Finland. The Foundation awards grants for specific purposes in various artistic fields. The end product of an awarded grant can be e.g. an event, a work of art, or an exhibition. Private individuals can also apply for individual grants for a Ph.D. degree in an artistic field.
- An individual 12-month working grant of €26,000

Summer opening hours
The Foundation’s office is closed on between 24.6. – 31.7.2022. We will again serve grant recipients and applicants by email and phone on Monday, August 1 at 9 a.m. Kindly submit your July and August payment requests on June 17th. at the latest. After that we will process payment requests in August.
Requests for changes and certificates related to the use of the grant will be processed until Midsummer June 23rd. Subsequent requests will be processed from August 1st. The Foundation Office wishes you a sunny and warm summer!
