The name of the fund is Finnish musical arts support fund of the Alfred Kordelin Foundation. The fund was established in 2019, when the Finnish musical arts support fund was merged with the Alfred Kordelin Foundation. The purpose of the new fund created by the merger, i.e. the Finnish musical arts support fund, is to support and promote Finnish musical arts while respecting the purpose of the merging Foundation.
The fund fulfils its purpose by awarding grants and awards to music educators, musicologists and music researchers, performing and creative musical artists and persons who have otherwise been exceptionally meritorious in their work for Finnish music.
Applying for and awarding grants from the Finnish musical arts support fund has been incorporated with the Alfred Kordelin Foundation’s August grant application round. Grants from the Finnish musical arts support fund can be applied for with the same application form and on the same terms as the Foundation’s other grants for music. In their applications, applicants do not need to specifically mention that they are applying for a grant from the Finnish musical arts support fund. Proposals for grant and award recipients will be submitted to the Alfred Kordelin Board of Directors by the fund’s committee.
