The grants awarded from city funds to private individuals, working groups and collectives support local culture. The sizes of the grant varies from a few hundred euros to a few
thousand euros. Grants from dedicated funds are awarded in
the fields of chemistry, pediatric heart disease, and research into
Estonian and other Finno-Ugric languages.

Huittinen fund

The fund was established in 1995 and the purpose of the Huittinen fund is to promote Huittinen’s artistic and cultural life and to support the nationwide wind music competition. The Fund awards scholarships and awards. The sizes of the grant varies from a few hundred euros to a few thousand euros. Nokia fund

The name of the fund is the Alfred Kordelin Foundation’s Nokia fund and its purpose is to promote Nokia’s artistic and cultural life and strengthen the local cultural identity. The funds of the fund support art and cultural projects implemented in Nokia, scientific research related to Nokia as a locality, science and art professionals from Nokia, the preparation of reports related to cultural sites and the carrying out of these restoration measures, as well as the financing of significant art acquisitions in public urban spaces.

Dedicated funds

Finnish musical arts support fund (Suomen säveltaiteen tukirahasto)

The name of the fund is Finnish musical arts support fund of the Alfred Kordelin Foundation. The fund was established in 2019, when the Finnish musical arts support fund was merged with the Alfred Kordelin Foundation. The purpose of the new fund created by the merger, i.e. the Finnish musical arts support fund, is to support and promote Finnish musical arts while respecting the purpose of the merging Foundation.

The fund fulfils its purpose by awarding grants and awards to music educators, musicologists and music researchers, performing and creative musical artists and persons who have otherwise been exceptionally meritorious in their work for Finnish music.

Applying for a grant

Applying for and awarding grants from the Finnish musical arts support fund has been incorporated with the Alfred Kordelin Foundation’s August grant application round. Grants from the Finnish musical arts support fund can be applied for with the same application form and on the same terms as the Foundation’s other grants for music. In their applications, applicants do not need to specifically mention that they are applying for a grant from the Finnish musical arts support fund.   Proposals for grant and award recipients will be submitted to the Alfred Kordelin Board of Directors by the fund’s committee.

  • performing and creative musical artists and persons who have in other ways done exceptionally important work for Finnish music.

For what purpose?

  • Grants can be awarded for the purpose of supporting and promoting Finnish musical arts.

The name of the fund is Alfred Kordelin Foundation’s Gust. Kompa fund and the purpose of the fund is to support:

– chemistry teaching and research
– making chemistry research results and applications known
– domestic and international cooperation in chemistry
– chemistry vocabulary work
– research on the history of chemistry and museum and exhibition activities in the field of chemistry

The Fund supports research in Estonia and research of other Finno-Ugric languages and the translation of Finnish literature into Estonian. The fund was established in 1994. The grant can be between 1000 and 4000 euros.

A proposal for grant recipients will be prepared by the Fund’s Board. The board of directors of the Alfred Kordelin Foundation will decide on grant recipients in March.
