The Foundation’s administrative bodies consist of the Managing Director, Board of Directors, the Financial Committee, the Nomination Committee and the sections for science, literature, arts, and public education.

The Board is responsible for the administration of the foundation and for ensuring that the foundation’s activities are properly organized to fulfill its purpose.
Board members are nominated by the board itself, the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, and the Finnish Lawyers’ Association. The term of the Board is three years.

The Finance Committee assists the Board and the CEO in managing financial matters. The Finance Committee consists of the Chair of the Board and four other members experienced in financial management. The members of the Finance Committee are nominated by the Board of Directors.
Nomination Committee
The Nomination Committee’s task is to prepare matters concerning the selection of members appointed to the Board. The sections have the right to make proposals to the Nomination Committee regarding new Board members.
The Nomination Committee consists of the Chair of the Board, the Vice Chair, and one member appointed by the sections.
Sections
The Foundation has four sections: the sections for science, literature, arts, and public education. Members for the sections are appointed by the background organizations specified in the Foundation’s statutes. There are 21 experts in total, and they are appointed for a three-year term, for a maximum of three consecutive terms.
The experts of each section assess the applications received by the august application round, and make proposals on grant recipients. The Board of Directors makes the final decisions on grant recipients.
