Kultaranta exhibition 5.6.–30.8.2026

In summer 2026, the Kultaranta sculpture exhibition explores growth – personal growth, the vitality of nature, and the connection and coexistence between humans and nature. The exhibition presents works from five artists: Tarja Malinen, Umppa Niinivaara, Henna Nuutinen, Kimmo Schroderus and Kim Simonsson.

The exhibition invites you to reflect on how growth and the continuous change it brings lead us to a better tomorrow.

The materials in the sculptures are acid-resistant steel and ceramics, which are used in various ways. The placement of the sculptures in the living environment of the garden opens a dialogue between nature and humans – a space for growth, renewal and connection.

The exhibited artworks draw their inspiration from the world of childhood, the evolution of humanity and the generative force of nature. At the same time, the pieces look to the future: they invite the viewer to pause and reflect on the state of our world. What does sustainable growth mean for humankind and the environment?

The Alfred Kordelin Foundation and the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland have organised sculpture exhibitions since 2011. Beginning in 2026, the WAM Museum of Contemporary Art will serve as partner and organiser of the exhibitions.

Kultaranta

In 1913–1916 Alfred Kordelin had Villa Kultaranta built in Naantali as his summer residence. The main building, of granite, was designed by Lars Sonck (1870–1956), one of the best-known Finnish architects of his day.

Kordelin’s dream was to create something which could become a home museum for future generations. In conjunction with the division of the Kordelin estate, the idea of a home museum was abandoned and Kultaranta was first donated to the Finnish University Society in Turku and later to the Finnish state. Kultaranta became the President’s official summer residence in 1922. All the Presidents of Finland have spent their summers at Kultaranta, with the exception of the war years.
