January applications: Major Cultural Projects, City Funds, and the Gust. Komppa Fund

In January, applications are open for the Major Cultural Projects, as well as for the City Funds and the Gust. Komppa Fund grants. The application period opens in the grant system on Thursday, January 15, and closes on Saturday, January 31 at 4:00 p.m. Finnish time.

Major Cultural Projects are our key projects that tackle societal challenges through the perspectives of science, art, and public enlightenment. We aim to open up new perspectives and solutions. The projects are ambitious and impactful, aiming for long-term continuity.

Major Cultural Projects provide concrete solutions and create new models of operation. The project aims to ensure the continuation of its activities after the funding period. The goal is that the knowledge, results, expertise, models, methods, or networks developed during the project will remain after its completion, become integrated into existing structures, or evolve into permanent forms of activity. Funding is intended for a two-year period, ranging from €100,000 to €300,000.

The Foundation has nine City Funds, located across Finland. The City Funds promote local arts and culture. The grants support projects that promote the common good, build dialogue, and create new ways to work and cooperate. The end result may be e.g. a public art or culture event, performance, series of concerts, or a piece of public art. Funded projects must benefit the local community and its inhabitants. Each city fund awards grants only to projects that are carried out in the city in question. The amount of the grant varies by fund from €8,000 to €20,000.

The Kordelin Foundation’s Gust. Komppa Fund promotes the field of chemistry by supporting its teaching and research, disseminating research results and applications, and enhancing both domestic and international collaboration in the field. The fund also awards grants for the popularization of chemistry to increase the field’s attractiveness. The goal is to deepen public understanding of chemistry and promote its application in society.
