Fields of application: Science, Arts, Public Education
The Foundation’s purpose is to promote Finnish science, art, literature, and public education. Grants can be applied for by Finnish citizens and by non-citizens who have a solid connection to Finland through e.g. PhD completed at a Finnish university, residence or work.

Science grants are awarded to recent PhD graduates and post-doctoral researchers at the early stages of their career. Grants are not awarded for doing doctoral research or finishing a doctoral thesis. Public education grants are awardedfor projects which strengthen the role of research and expertise-based knowledge.

Using the grant application system
Grants are applied for through the electronic grant application system. You may complete the application in Finnish or English. Questions are available in both languages.
Applying for a grant requires applicants to identify themselves using online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. For organisations and working groups, the person responsible of an organization or group must log in with their own banking credentials in order to complete an application. If you cannot use these methods, contact the Foundation at .
Once the application is complete, it must be approved and submitted through the grant application system. A submitted application can be canceled during the application period, after which it can be edited again. To ensure that your application is reviewed by the Foundation, remember to resend it within the application period.
An unsent application is marked as “Incomplete.” The Foundation does not process applications with this status. After successful submission, the application status will show as “Sent” on the main page of the online service. The system does not send separate confirmations via email to the applicant. After the deadline for applications has passed, the status of a successfully submitted application will update to “Received.”

Reporting on a previously awarded grant
