Alfred Kordelin Prize 2025
The awards will be announced on November 6, 2025.
The prizes are awarded for socially impactful and topical contributions that advance science, the arts and public education. The award recipients are top professionals in their fields and strengthen the diversity, competence and internationality of Finnish society through their work, creating a foundation for a more sustainable and better future.
The prize sum is 50,000 euros, and two to three prizes are awarded each year. Nominees are submitted by 80 nominators ranging from Finnish universities to art and cultural organisations.
The Foundation awarded the first honorary prize in 1923. At the time, the prize was 100,000 Finnish marks and was awarded to composer Jean Sibelius. Details of other previous award recipients can be found on our website: read more.
During the ten-year period from 2025 to 2035, the foundation’s strategy focuses on breakthroughs in society. Education is a force for social renewal and a resource that keeps pace with the times. Science, the arts and learning promote education, people’s participation in society and a sustainable future.
