The total amount of funding will remain the same – in total, the Kordelin Foundation will distribute EUR 3.5 million for science, art, and public education. The application period is from 15 to 30 August 2025.
The Kordelin Foundation promotes breakthroughs in society. The purpose of the Foundation is to promote and support Finnish science, literature, art and public education.
The Kordelin Foundation’s strategy has been renewed, and changes are coming to the grants available in August. The foundation’s funding will increasingly support long-term and goal-oriented work. In personal grants for science and art, the particular focus is on the grant recipient’s career path and professional development. Public education grants are awarded for projects which strengthen the role of research and expertise-based knowledge and critical thinking and promote making knowledge available to a wider audience.
The grant amounts for science, art, and public education will now be uniform. Previously, the foundation primarily awarded yearly grants of EUR 26,000 and six-month grants of EUR 13,000. Going forward, the grant awarded to individuals will be EUR 45,000 for 12–18 months of work. The terms of use for the grants will also be more flexible. Grants awarded to collectives will range from EUR 50,000 to EUR 100,000.
Science: Grants for post-doctoral researchers
The Kordelin Foundation supports research in the humanities, natural and technical sciences and social sciences. Grants are awarded to recent PhD graduates and post-doctoral researchers at the early stages of their career. The purpose of the grants is to support newly graduated doctors on their career paths and enable them to advance in their careers. The applicant can, for instance, pursue co-operation with different businesses or research groups, or the grant can be awarded for starting up their own operation in an innovation incubator, for example.
A working grant is intended for private individuals for full-time, continuous work for a specific time span. The grant is €45,000 and is intended to cover 12 to 18 months of work.

Art Grants Available Biennially
Grants for the arts are awarded both to private individuals and collectives. Grants are awarded for the different artistic fields every other year. In 2025, grants are available for visual arts, music, and architecture and applied arts. In 2026, grants will be awarded for literature and the performing arts.
The change is driven by the larger grant amounts and extended grant periods. The grant amount will increase to EUR 45,000, allowing for 12–18 months of work and a more stable working period. Collectives can also apply for grants. Grants awarded to collectives will range from EUR 50,000 to EUR 100,000.
The goal is to create a sustainable and long-term model for supporting the arts. The total allocation for arts in the August 2025 call is EUR 1.7 million.
