New Classics, Application period 1.–15.9.2025

The New Classics fund will be open for applications in September 2025. New Classics grants are awarded in alternate years to artists working in performance and visual arts, and in this application round the grants will go to the performing arts.

Set up by the state and four foundations in 2022, the New Classics fund supports the work and growth of artists who have already established themselves in the field of art in Finland. Organisations of performing arts in fields such as theatre, circus, dance and music can apply for a grant for their production between 1 and 15 September 2025.

Performing arts organisations that receive an operational subsidy for specific art forms from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland in 2024 or 2025 are eligible to apply. The funded production must be made in cooperation with at least one performance art operator or a national art institution that is receiving a state subsidy.

The final amount of funding paid is based on the proceeds from ticket sales for the target production. In addition to the basic amount of the grant, awarded on the basis of the application, successful applicants will receive additional funding during the grant period.

Applications will open on 1 September 2025 and end on 15 September 2025 at 4 pm. The funding decisions will be published on the New Classics fund website by mid-November.

The New Classics fund aims to support the role and significance of art in society and to increase the lifespan of the productions and works of art, as well as the number of people who see them. The fund was set up jointly by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the following four foundations: the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, the Alfred Kordelin Foundation and the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation.
